5-seat car sales break record
As
forecasted, between January and February 2010, the domestic car market will
enjoy 50 percent reduction of VAT and Vehicle Registration Recovery Fee (VRRF).
In last
December, 5-seat cars established a new record with the sales of 5,138
domestically produced units, growing 1.25 times year-on-year, Vietnam
Automobile Manufacturers Association (Vama) reported January 7.
Thanks to
the effect of government's consumption demand stimulus package, 2009 is
regarded as a banner year of domestic carmakers so far. In details, the
domestic purchase power surged 7 percent against 2008 so total car sales of
2009 reached 119,460 units.
Car sales
of December 2009 were estimated at 15,065 units, up 59 percent year-on-year.
Overview
the full year, 34,656 tourism cars were sold, representing the highest growth
of 47 percent. In addition, 540 Spark LT 0.8 vehicles, 453 Gentra SX 1.5 units
and 454 Lacetti 1.6 cars of GM Daewoo were sold out.
As for
Toyota Vietnam, the sales included 813 Corolla Alis cars and 318 Camry 2.4 G
units. The third best car seller Honda Vietnam recorded 350 Civic 1.8 and 2.0
units.
