Car sales of domestic automobile manufacturers continues impressive momentum
In April,
total car sales of domestic automobile manufacturers continue to grow, reaching
9,551 units, up 23 percent over the same period last year.
Particularly,
according to Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA)’s report, the
segment of general-purpose cars saw a strong growth of 75 percent against
2009’s, reaching 1,622 units but lower than 2,280 units of March, 2010.
In this
segment, Toyota reached the biggest volume with 801 units with models such as
Innova G with 258 units, and then Truong Hai with 250 units and Ford 220 units.
Commercial
cars reached 5,546 units, rising 19 percent from last April and exceeding the
figure of 4,325 units of March.
Tourism
car sales reached 2,384 units, increasing 8 percent against the figure of 2,198
units of the same period last year but decreasing compared to March’s 2,713
units.
In this
segment, Lacetti EX 1.6 of GM Daewoo reached the biggest volume with 188 units
and then Gentra SX 1.5 with 149, Ford Forcus with 117, Toyota Corolla Altis
(352 units), Camry 2.4 G (124), Vios Limo (287) and Honda Civic with 159 units.
Generally,
in April, VMC Co (Kia, Mazda) reported strongest sales growth of up to 640
percent, over five fold increase against last year and followed by Ford with 69
percent growth.
Amongst
domestic automobile manufacturers, Truong Hai also gained impressive growth of
56 percent, reaching 2,674 units and Toyota Vietnam grew 41 percent with over
2,000 units.
