CBU car imports continue to slow down in the first half of July

Import turnover of completely built up (CBU) cars of all kinds in July 2010 is more likely to fall further compared to the previous month and the same period of last year.
According to recent statistics of the general Department of Customs, in the first half of July 2010, there were 1,985 CBU cars imported, worth $44 million in turnover. Of that, cars with less than nine seats were 1,338 units (equivalent to $15.8 million), cars from nine seats were 13 units (equivalent to $215,000) and vans were 453 units (reaching nearly $16.6 million).
Usually, import turnover of CBU cars in the second half of the month is slightly better than the first half. Therefore, the number of CBU cars imported in July is expected to reach about 4,000 to 4,100 units, 400 to 500 units less than June and 3,000 units less than the same period of last year.
In the first half of June, there were 2,180 CBU cars imported, equivalent to $39.5 million. Imports of CBU cars in June reached 4,500 in volume and $81 million in value.

Of that, cars with less than nine seats were 15,163 units, equivalent to $175.8 million; cars from nine seats were 126 units, equivalent to $2.56 million; vans were 7,320 units, equivalent to $170 million.
