Good news for Vietnam sports motorbike lovers
2010-1201
Expensive sports motorbikes will be more affordable in Vietnam with the transfer of technology from S&T Motor in the Republic of Korea to the Rebel USA Motor Corp-Vietnam.
The Hyosung Aquila GT650R will be the first of sports motorbikes bigger than 600cc ever wholly assembled in Vietnam in line with international standards. The assembly will undergo 30 steps of examination to ensure the product quality on a par with those made in the RoK.
The vehicles, which are now imported complete knock-down (CKD), fetch between 11,500 and 12,000 USD each while a potential domestically-assembled unit will have an estimated price of just 8,499 USD.
Ngo Van Tru, Deputy Head of the Heavy Industry Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said the transfer of technology made a turning point in the domestic motorbike assembly industry.
He said other luxury sports motorbikes such as Aquila GV650 and Aquila ST7, which are now imported in the form of CKD, will follow suit.
