Toyota Motor Vietnam announced price increases Tuesday following the sharp devaluation of the dong against the US dollar.
The automaker, the country’s biggest with a market share of 27.7 percent last year, said the price hike will take effect March 1 and apply to most of its models.
The highest, of VND174 million (US$8,350) – or more than 7 percent -- will apply to the imported Land Cruiser, which will cost more than VND2.6 billion.
The Vios Limo will see the smallest hike of VND34 million after which it will cost VND520 million.
Other carmakers are expected to follow suit. The Vietnamese central bank last week devalued the dong by 9.3 percent.
